Federal Ecodesign Award

The Federal Ecodesign Prize is awarded annually to promote sustainable production as well as sustainable consumption. The award recognises product designs as well as services and system solutions. In addition to environmental compatibility, quality criteria comprise a pronounced design quality and a high degree of innovation.
Once a year, in cooperation with the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ), the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Environment Agency award the Federal Ecodesign Award for products that combine good design and ecological processes. The competition is aimed at companies from all sectors, from start-ups to market leaders. The prize is awarded in four categories: product, concept, service, and young talent. No participation fees are charged for the young talent category, which is also aimed at students. For companies, the fee is tiered according to the number of employees: 250 euros for up to 10 employees, 500 euros for 11 to 50 employees, 750 euros for 51 to 250 employees, 1,000 euros for more than 250 employees. The winners will be announced on 25 November 2019 and presented in a traveling exhibition.
